Troubadour

Yes, George Strait's lyrics do start going through my mind whenever I hear this word, but it is a word I associate, for the most part, with musicians "leading" the way in music...like a minstrel "leading" a procession.

The definition mainly refers to the Middle Ages and strolling minstrels and love lyrics, but for me Kurt Cobain was a troubadour. He and his band Nirvana lead the grunge scene to a new level in this country.

Troubadour = person making their way by leading...that's what I think, and that's how I use it.

Desalination

This word may not be one that you use often, and is probably used more often scientifically or in the scientific world. For example, today the hubs and I were talking about what the big fuss is over "future" water shortages. I mean really, for God's sake, 2/3s of this planet is flippin' water. How hard is it to create desalination plants? Desalination means to remove salt from a liquid, normally water, but you can also desalinate soil.

Now, after reading some, in order to inform you, I have found out the big fuss is all about the moolah. Turns out these bad boys are a little pricey to build. Yet, do you know who's ahead of the world in this technology...the place I want to move and work--United Arab Emirates! They are responsible for 75% of the world's desalination plants and are way ahead of the game when it comes to making that salt water drinkable.

P.S. They don't have income taxes, either!

Megalomaniac

A person suffering from megalomania, who would have thought that?. Megalomania is when a person suffers from a mental condition that makes them become obsessed with "larger than life" elements in their own daily activities.

One of the better examples I found was Marvin the Martian, but I'm sure you know one or two, or maybe you're lucky and know none...LOL.

Personally, I like the word as an insult (as it should be), but I'm guilty of liking the way it rolls off of my tongue--meg-uh-loh-mey-nee-ak!

Abecedarium

An abecedarium (or abecedary) is an inscription consisting of the letters of the alphabet, almost always listed in order. Typically, abecedaria (or abecedaries) are practice exercises. (This info made possible by our friends at Wiki--http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Here are a few of mine:

A is for Apple and I want a MAC
B is for Bank that holds all your "jack"
C is for Christy, that would be me...
D is for Doctor which I'm hoping to be.

Now, in the comments, you give it a try.
